Microsoft Announce 'MyAchievements'

For years now, Xbox 360 gamers have wonder what the real point of Gamerscore is, other than the obvious - to show how much of a n00b you are when it comes to gaming. Well, yesterday Microsoft announced their rewards scheme to thank gamers for their continued support.

Xbox Live MyAcheivements

Now I must admit, it had been a while since I've had an Xbox 360 so please feel free to fill in the blank in the comments below but as far as I'm aware there are three tiers of rewards with MyAchievemtns and they are...

Contender (3000 - 9999 Gamerscore) - A special gift during your birthday month.

Champion (10000 - 24999 Gamerscore) - A special gift during your birthday month, plus 1% rebate on your Xobx Live Marketplace purchases every month.

Legend (25000+ gamerscore) - A special gift during your birthday month, plus 2% rebate on your Xobx Live Marketplace purchases every month.

On first look, the rebates don't look that rewarding but I'm sure they will soon add up. Of course, to benefit from them you must first make purchases on the marketplace, so it will probably mean more turnover on the marketplace in the long run.

My guess is that in a few months time Microsoft will add more tiers, seeing as 25,000 Gamerscore isn't that high in all fairness. I could well be wrong, but that is just how I see it at the moment.
